Makan Place – P Bistro

The hippies moved out of Tiong Bahru and into Jalan Besar/Serangoon Road and set up cafes dotted along the vaster expanse of land.

One of the nice and worthwhile cafes to visit is P Bistro at Owen Road.

The bistro opened in 2013 with a husband and wife team. The wife, had previously trained as a Patissier in France at Le Cordon Bleu and the couple decided to become first time restauranters. They hired a chef from the Mandarin Hotel to cook the mains, while the female boss did the desserts.

Add that in, with good management, reasonable prices and praiseworthy service and the cafe has created its own recipe for success.

P Bistro 2The cafe was nicely packed with people when we went it, but still relatively quiet, there are two floors, a shop front floor and a second floor.

P Bistro 3 P Bistro 4It’s decorated in a very homely normal style, nothing fancy, but very comfortable.

We came to try their food, and here it was. We began with truffle flake and parmesan cheese fries. It’s a dish that is increasingly common in cafes and restaurants (truffle oil and fries), it adds layers to the taste of the fries, and is hard to get wrong.

P Bistro 5For mains we tried their Fish and Chips and Carbonara.

P Bistro 6 P Bistro 7Simple dishes that tasted authentic and rather nice. I particularly liked the rich carbonara.

We also had a nicely made mocha for coffee.

P Bistro 8Perhaps what I liked the most, is this the salted caramel cheese cake. Amazing.

P Bistro 9Definitely worth a visit!
